He Must Increase

Hi there, I'm really curious as to the different ways in which churches co-ordinate visiting artists and bands coming into their church setting ?.

This is a question that I have put alot of thought into recently, and I'm really keen to hear what your thoughts are on this subject. I guess Im trying to establish if artists are left to find the bookings, or does the church actively look for artists. And who in the church would do the looking an dbooking as a rule of thumb ? Is there a standard set in bible college ?, or is the whole thing uncoordinated and left to an open door oppurtunity.

What's your experience - your thoughts are much appreciated.
Blessings
Chris

We have a guy in our church who acts as a promoter for the gigs at our church. We've had a number of big name bands play in the last few years including Delerious?, Starfield, Hillsongs London and a few others (Y Friday playing tomorrow night). With most of these bands the gigs are often part of a tour and the tie up is between the band management and the local promoters. Economics dictates that a band/artist needs to be able to draw several hundred people to make the gig viable. Lesser know bands (local or otherwise) might get offered a support slot which the local promoter may organise or in some instances the headline bands management will have someone booked to support the whole tour.
Don't know if that's any help to you, or I've misunderstood your question Chris.
Cheers
Rob

If any one is looking for a great evening invite The London Community Gospel Choir along to your church for a workshop and evening concert! It's such a great way for your congregation to invite their non-Christian friends to church! The workshops are very popular and teach how to sing 'Gospel'! then the idea is that they stay for the evening performance and experience an amazing night of praise and worship without realising it!! For more info contact the LCGC office on 0208 509 7288 or email info@choirconnexion.co.uk or website www.lcgc.org.uk
