Fat and Frantic were a christian band, who were around from the mid 1980s to the early 1990s. They produced a number of albums, and performed at various venues, including the Greenbelt Festival. Does anyone else remember them? Does anyone know what happened to them?
As in "Last night my wife hoovered my head?" I think that was one of their theological nuggets! I seem to recall Simon Mayo playing it on Radio 1 (back when I could stand to listen to Radio 1 - which really was a long time ago!)
I don't have to get the casette player out, as I have 2 CD's, have played the a capella album "Precious Lord" at Church before the service, and I was surprised by some peoples reaction. I suppose that I am used to listening to it, and forgot how loud it gets in places!
I have played "Last night my wife hoovered my head" to my daughter, and she thought it was very funny!
they were great, they wrote a beautiful song called Uganda's children and I can't remember the title but the lyrics were, "I'm just a barclaycard carrying member of the free" I had a live tape called Live from the wonkey donkey, excellent Band great fun
I remember Ant and Dec (back in their Saturday morning TV days) did a game called "wonkey donkey". I can't remember what the rules were tho.... But I do remember that someone found a copy of that tape in a charity shop and sent it in - the cover was shown on primetime saturday morning kids tv.
It's amazing the useless tripe I can recall, when compared to the important stuff I forget.....
ah yes, SMTV the rules to Wonkey donkey were, you had a donkey with three legs and it had to rhyme therefore he was a wonkey donkey, a kitten in love was a smitten kitten, a gopher dressed as parker from thunderbirds was a chauffer gopher! great idea proper saturday morning fun
I didn't have any of their stuff myself but my wife and I were the youth leaders in our church at the time of F&F. Very popular amongst our kids (who used to bring in the tapes) but I do recall one song with the imortal line of:-
'mind....the gap'
- something about commuters or travelling on trains i think!
i can reveal that Craig McLeish(bass) now lives in the midlands and orchestrates and arranges. I'm playing a gig with him in Chester on 4th July.
