He Must Increase

The Kari Jobe song also sung by Jesus Culture. It's being sung a lot in American churches now apparently. Anyone tried it yet? How did it go?

We wouldn't attempt it on ouur church but it's on the set list for a concert our music ministry is doing soon. For some reason, I'm worrying about being able to do it justice.

Just wondered if anyone has played/sung it yet and how it went/went down.

Hi Dee,

We have done it at our church. De did it in D for a male lead and it only has four chords. Because the song is written well it almost leads itself if you know what I mean...it automatically engenders passion etc. The main issue in rehearsing it was to get the dynamics right in the rythmn section and the Jesus Culture version is a good one for demonstrating that. In my view its one of the easier ones to pull of becuase it is well written and simple.

hope that helps

That's good to hear, Joe. It wasn't complicatedness that made me doubt it, more wanting to do (a rocking version) justice, creatively speaking, with our team. Good to know it was received well at church.

Our rhythm section is quite strong and we have a great lead singer so we should be able too pull it off. Ha ha. Famous last words.

Been playing this song for the past 5-6 months and it has become one of the most popular and powerful songs at the moment in our church. Go for it, give it plenty of space and be prepared for the holy spirit to move. :)

Love this song, it's so anointed. We've been playing it at church for a couple of years now, originally in D but I now play it in E, mainly because I just personally prefer the key and it suits my range better! We originally only introduced it with the first verse as it's quite tricky to sing in places but have added the other two verse over time and it's definitely a congregation favourite now - it always takes the worship up to another level without fail. Infact I may use it this week...

Well, it went down like a lead ballooon last night. {boo!} There may be several reasons for that, which we're still figuring out.

Trying it again tonight in a different venue with a different crowd.

Yeah have done it once, because it would have been unfamiliar to most people in the room we did it during the offering so they could listen to it at the same time as fishing for their money... it was quite good, the room was big so it gave it the epic feel it needs, however we didn't quite manage the instrumental with the different chords well enough, the bassist slipped up on the change. But it was okay. I had a soprano saxophonist playing the line, that WAS lovely. It's a great song, thoroughly inspired!!
