I know we've had this discussion in the past but now that we've removed some of the groups we'll be looking to re-start some of these discussions in the main forum.

I'll start us off then...

I've got an electro-acoustic Takamine EAN40c and a Mexican Strat.

The Takamine is my favourite.

I'll pitch in too....

I've got a Takamine EN40c (I think that might be the earlier version of yours, Phil - does yours have the built in tuner?) and a Taylor 714CE

They're both really nice guitars. They have very different sounds - bright and jangly Tak, and warm, rich Taylor, but the clincher is the electrics in the Taylor - the plugged in sound is much more natural (it's done with mics, rather than pickups, or something....)

I also have a Late 80's heavy rock style Washburn XS-4 Bass (the fretted version of this one: http://www.elderly.com/vintage/items/images/55U/55U-3823_front.jpg) sat in the corner of my study. I only use it for laying down demo bass lines as it's far too embarrasing to take out in public ;)

Yep mine has the built-in tuner, although the light bulb has recently gone so when i'm plugged in I have no way of knowing if the tuner is on, on mute, or off :-(

Hi there, any chance to talk guitars and i'm hooked.

Weapon of choice is my beloved Lowden O25. Big, bold and beautiful. Fitted with a Headway HE1.FEQ undersadle. Run it through a BBE Acoustimax pre-amp/DI.

I do own a mex tele, but never play it :( , just doesn't feel the same.

I have two Washburn Festival series electro acoustics. One is a late 70s early 80s Monterey deluxe with a spruce top and matched birds eye maple back & sides. It has the original barcus berry under-bridge pickup but I'm on the third set of electrics. A truly great sounding guitar.
My number two guitar is also a Festival series, this time in mahogany. A more woody mellow sound but the Equis pre-amp is not so good, so only a spare.
I also have a Faith Jupiter with a Fishman soundhole pickup.
I have a Turner acoustic bass and a 1984 JV series Squier Precision
My electric guitars are
1988 Gibson Les Paul Studio thinline in black. A very rare guitar. I've only ever seen one other advertised. It has a Steenberger tailpiece/ trem unit, one volume and tone control and a coil tap switch. Steenberg had just been taken over by Gibson so they were using up the bits. Oh and the pickups look like the small de-luxe ones but black.
A mid eighties Danvel Nelson 3 pickup telecaster in black. Hand made by Derrick Nelson in Dublin. Very rare. Possibly the same as the guitar Bono used on the "Rattle & hum" tour.
A Washburn RR150 solid electric hybrid guitar. Two separate jack sockets. One for the twin humbuckers, the other for the electro-acoustic pickup in the bridge. Designed for Sammy Hagar.
I also have an Ozark mandolin

I'll join in too!
Acoustic - Takamine EN10
Bass - Music Man Stingray 4 string (circa 1987)
Electric - Fender Stratocaster (circa 1980)

Love 'em all! I've also go a Variax which I find I don't use any more. Also got a couple of classicals and an old Yamaha steel string acoustic.

..and now of course I want another one, or two.....

OK,...for the record and for the gear heads
Usually lead with a Takamine EN40c as others,..bought in 95, has mellowed out beautifully. Always play it through a Trace Elliot TA100R - great sound. Dont use a monitor.
Leading more often now with a Gibson Les Paul Standard 1973 into a Matchless Lightning 15 - only listen to it off monitoring though, not the amp (generally). Also using a ts9 tube screamer, Carl Martin tremoverb, Boss dd5 and Carl Martin Boost Kick. Also use a Custom Shop USA strat 61 Relic - but prefer thick sound of the LP. Been also using a Yamaha electric Nylon string - FPx I think.
Bass: MM Stingray5, Jap Jazz (fretted and non fretted) into Mesa Boogie 400 and Ampeg Classic 410HE. Mesa Boogie just stopped working so church have bought a Nemesis 400 (not arrived yet) ;-(

Okay,...thats out of my system.

No need for anything new,...shame.

Hmm,

Main guitar: Simon & Patrick SP-6, bought 11 years ago and nicely aged, matt finish & a big sound for less than a Martin/Lowden (unless you bought the latter before they were famous!).

Spare: Celebrity Deluxe (by Ovation) (the slim-body, autumn leaves edition), my second guitar and served me well for a few years before the S&P

I have a Takemine cut-away (can't remember the model number) but it needs repairing, a Sigma acoustic and an American Standard Tele which is what I play in church

My son and I tend to share most kit, some is his, some is mine, but between us we use:

Acoustic -
Crafter SE15 with baggs pick ups (not sure which type, but they are very good!)
Reedman Adamas (never heard of them either! but it was a demo model I picked up about 12 years ago; very much like an Ovation Adamas but with better pick ups)
I also have a very old jumbo Epiphone for those occasions when I don't need to be or can't be amplified or are not so precious about accidental damage, eg sessions on the beach, in the park or in the campsite at New Wine

Electric -
Epiphone SG
Epiphone Les Paul Celebrity Custom II

Bass -
Yamaha 405 (or is it the 605?) with active circuitry (great down at the bottom end with a good amp)
And an Aria bass (nothing special, but good as a bog standard 4 string)

I tend to use the Crafter if leading and the Yamaha if bass playing. I have put on light strings onto the Crafter, so not so good acoustically, but with the pickups, it is so powerful I have to have the gain turned down far below anyone else!

Electric:
Ibanez Jem- 7DBK (2002)
Yamaha- RG something? (2003)
Squier Jagmaster- (1999)

Acoustic:
Yamaha APX- (2001)
Spanish Guitar (1960s- very nice!)
Yamaha Spanish Guitar (1999)

Bass
Shine 5 String (2005)

Amps
Line 6 Spider II Amp- (2003)
Cheap bass amp- can't remember brand!

If I was starting from scratch, and could have anything- Mexican tele- custom with two humbuckers, pretty much any PRS guitar, and a takamine acoustic. I once played an acoustic guitar that was worth £10,000! It was very, very, very nice! But I was SO scared of damaging it!
