Just wondering what effects you like to use when leading worship or playing in a worship team?

Do you go for the multi-effects units or prefer a simple chorus effect pedal?

I tend to use an old Zoom acoustic pedal, either using a 12string sound (lots of chorus) to fatten things up, or a reverby/small chorus sound to give a bit of delay/chorus. Depends who I am playing with, as if I have an electric guitarist I may go 'naked' and no effects at all, but if it is just me as the guitarist I use one of the sounds as above.

My guitars (a Crafter SE-15 or an Ovation adamas) has such good pickups though (Baggs pickups on the Crafter), often ithey sound better on their own than with effects. And it also depends on who is on the desk, to get the best sound.

I do have a variety of other effects boxes (delays, chorus, drives etc) but they have been nicked by my son for his pedal board, and as the Zoom is OK, I am happy enough with it.

We've had loads of discussions on this one haven't we! Maybe mostly in the groups. My tastes change with the weather. When playing acoustic I generally don't use effects at all. When playing electric I fluctuate between my Pod XT Live and some individual effects. I'm really just learning about the indivisual effects and at the moment have a Wah-Wah, an old Ibenez chorus and a Behringer overdrive (that looks a lot like a Boss one ;-) ). I've had my eyes on some expensive overdrives but the cash isn't available just yet so haven't bought one. I've borrowed a few which has been good. Lots more learning to do!

I think it's all about what you feel gives the best worship experience. As God will use you differently to using me, I don't think there's a specific 'rule of thumb'. However, I do feel that if you get a sound that suits you, enables you to worship (even without the rest of the band) then it's prob the right sound!
In reply to CS's comment - I use a Zoom G1X multi-effects pedal with my electric and it's awesome. The best sound in an MEP I've heard - even trumping the sound of the POD. It's so variable - and great fun too! I also use a single Tube Amp modeller for backup which is smooth... The main thing is practice, get your settings right for you and ask yourself, 'can I worship with this sound?' :)

Hmmm - interesting, however, we have in-ear monitoring so no Fender / Marshall / Alnico / etc can make their case. We do, however, get a truly clean, unmuddled, -LOUD- but not overbearing (for the older gen) sound. Therefore, we allow the Sound tech the right to mix the sound for the congregation. - based on the WHOLE sound - not just me as a guitarist. He can give me as much of ME as I want in my own ears - but thats not necessarily what everyone else wnts to hear - maybe thats a good a thing!!!! :) All I know is, since we went in-ear, evryone is sooo much happier...not one complaint. So that's good, right?

I will go against the grain then. I had a Boss GT-5 but bought the GT-10 a few months ago. I tend to use about half a dozen presets OD, Delay, Chorus and Phaser mainly. I tweaked the settings so that each preset has a similar output level and use the CTL1 and CTL2 switches to either toggle some of the effects or provide a solo boost.

I have just bought an e-bow too - that's a fun toy!
