Seeing as there's an introducing theme-

I'm Han(nah), 16 and hoping to lead worship
I've already sung at church but not yet got out the guitar, although soon will as our youth guitarist just went to uni
It's great I've found this group and site it's encouraging to here from others.

Just up for a chat etc

Seriously guys, I have exactly the same problem! It's so difficult to convince people within my church to let me lead - I lead a lot at events outside my church, some that, for want of a better word, are much 'bigger' than my church, but I still find it difficult to find opportunities to lead on home turf. However, I'd encourage you to persevere - with so few young people in the church, it really encourages people to see young Christians fighting for God.

Hey, this is fantastic - I'm probably classed as old now (27) but I had led worship since 21/22 ish) and so would happily give any advice or even take some advise at how we can kick the butt of church worship into the next century!! My church is not really traditional - we do some Tim Hughes, Hillsongs united alongside the ole 90s stuff. I think, because I am into rock, its seems all to nicey nice for me but I put up with it he he. I enjoy the Hillsongs united stuff as its more rocky so thats cool. The other week we did an outside event and got to sing Evanescences Bring me to life - wow its was coooel but would never work IN the church : ). Anyway, wots your ideas, dreams, visions for worship? Go for it guys, I would love to see some more young stuff in leading positions.

Wellll...I'm Amy, do a bit of leading at the ol' church. I'm sure most of you have someone like me at your churches - I thoroughly dislike 99% of Mission Praise and have a bit of a thing for Tim Hughes :) Always pushing to make our worship a bit more contemporary, but I learned the hard way that if a set doesn't have at least 50% 'dino-songs', it's going to cause some problems.

Sandy - nice to see youon here! I've been through the same problems at my church, and it's so hard! You jsut need to be strong in yourself and in your faith. God's given you these gifts, you use them! Don't worry about what people say about age - 1Timothy 4:12 says "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." As long as you're trying your best and giving your all the God, they can't contest you. Like someone said, they will warm to you and your playing style. People find it hard to accept change, but that doesn't mean we don't change things.
Levi Phillips Comment by Levi Phillips on 2 July 2008 at 7:24pm
Hey Sandy, keep going because through God we can do all things!!

I had a lot of err, how shall we put this, grumpy people give me bad looks and comments at first, but they warmed up to it after a while, it depends what kind of church you're leading at, but don't give up and strive to give the people a worship session from your heart, and they will realise how deep God's love is for them, whoever is leading. That's all that matters!

God bless

hey :D
i`m going to introduce myself as well :D

I`m Sandy in fact (Allexandra but i hate this name ..and my friends call me so ) I`m from Romania ..(even if people consider it .. not very interesting..It is )

I`m 17 and i lead worship in my church .. (like 150 people )
In fact i`m not a worship leader. ..but our worship leader got pregnant (is a she :P cause i know it sounds funny ...)so i lead worship...
It`s a bit wired because nobody think i can do a good job ... i am in their opinion "to young " for such a thing...
Fistly i dind`t want to accept it ..and to get involved ...cause it`s easyer to sing and play guitar ....and not to lead a whole church into worship which is a HUGE respnsability . But still many things changed since i`ve been helping the group ...It is hard cause my church is a bit traditional...a bit more ...but i know that God`s will for me is to stay here and do my best for Him ...cause HE deserves is . And the most important is what He thinks about me

Anyway ...i hope things will work better ...and if anyone wants to give me a piece of advice :D i`m looking forward to receve it .

What can i say guys ...Just keep worshiping God ...with your life and everything it has to offer .

Hey - Just going to introduce myself to y'all!

I'm 17 and I lead worship week in week out at a youth group called 180 at Chrisian Life Centre, Hereford. There's about 7 of us in the band, and I'm trying to do everything I can to push our worship further, higher, and closer to God as part of the night's activities. I've also lead a small band in trying to get contemporary music into the traditional anglican church in villages and towns around Herefordshire (which is a real mission!) for a couple of years, and we've had some success, in that we've been invited back to more churches several times!

I was just wondering how there's so few people on here who are under 20 and leading worship??
Tom Barber Comment by Tom Barber on 13 May 2008 at 9:57pm
Definitely mate - it was more as a supplementary thing as opposed to being the only mentoring available - I've got several worship leaders who are really helping me and encouraging me, and one whose 'role' it is to try and do that - I just wonder whether it would be cool to ask any of the really knowledgeable older guys on here if that's something they would want to do, especially if it's for someone who doesn't have that kind of opportunity - ie they're trying to introduce contemporary worship to their church or something,,, :)
