The adventures of KMC worship group - 1. Schizophrenia

Sunday morning - as you would expect, the team gather for prayer in quiet expectation before morning worship. A baptism party is swelling the decent congregation, and minister Paul is preparing in the vestry.

Saturday night - the band clear up the PA from the dance floor, following another gig for their alter-egos, "Mid-Life-Crisis". It's approaching 1am, and they are still humming "Johnny-B-Good". We've played two 1-hour sets of rock and pop to a heaving mass of 50-year-olds, and we have no roadies...

Sunday morning - still praying, and the light goes out in the cupboard where we meet. "It's alright, my eyes were already closed", I say. We join the congregation to lead a mixture of old and new songs, extended worship and quiet contemplation. The people here are so unlike those at a gig (though some came to both). They come to meet Jesus, and He comes to meet them. We are just servants, lining the road with palm branches.

Strangely, we are the same people that played at the gig the night before - still servants. Think of your favourite worship leader, 20 years on - what will they be doing then. The music that God gives is a gift to be unwrapped in all sorts of places.
