the idea has previously been floated..

Let's assume for a moment that we took the idea seriously...

Are people interested in submitting their songs for an HMI album?

What expertise/time could people offer to making it a reality (ie - graphic design, Recording time etc.)

Would people buy it?

discuss.

Yes - I agree with some comments already made. This discussion has established there is enough interest and willingness to get invloled from the HMI community to make this thing happen. But what people are saying is right - we need a few people to be 'leaders' of this project, so decisions can be made and a way forward sorted out and the process kick-started into action.

I suggest Phil, Paul +?

Just to let you know that Paul and I are currently working out the best way forward - will keep you posted.

Thanks,

Yes Kent! This is a cracking idea! the more good worship songs out there to resource the church the better!

I'd love to be involved in whatever way you can use. . . I'll do anything or nothing whatever is required or desired.

incidentally how are you?

Hi

I would be interested in anything of this kind. It strikes me that this site might be good to introduce musicians and singers who live locally to each other so they could collaborate on each other's individual projects and maybe in this way also come up with songs for the project. Part of the problem seems to be that many of us [me included] are stuck in our own corner, doing our own thing, when god wants to make a lot more connections.

In the topic
"Recording Artists & Worship Leaders who all sound alike" which is running on another part of the site I suggested that the HMI album (to pull together all the various threads running through the topic)
"One of the criteria for song selection should be theological integrity (to keep Daniel etc happy)
Another should be that any song that sounds like something from Soul Survivor/Vineyard/Hillsongs should automatically be discounted
And thirdly, I suppose it needs 80s style synths.......... (not sure about that one)
To everyone who said that the people sing words to tunes- AMEN!

But seriously folks, if you are considering an HMI album- please don't just do what everyone else is doing. Please don't turn it into a second rate copy of what's already there. Please do dare to be different. Please do consider other instruments apart from guitar bass drums and keyboards.
You are all creative people- so create, don't plagiarise.
Pursue excellence (which is doing the best you can with what you have)

Should the HMI see the light of day- here's a possible way of getting airplay around the world
http://www.indieheaven.com/powerpraiseradio
and here's another one- (more country orientated)
http://www.newchristianmusic.co.uk/

There's a fee for getting your song onto the programmes but it's cheaper than sending loads of CDs to the radio stations (assuming you can find the right person/address to send it to)
