Open Sky

Dave Bainbridge's (Iona) new band Open Sky played at our church on Saturday - brilliant event, Dave has once again drawn a talented bunch of musicians around him and they've collaborated to produce some very technical yet still beautiful music.

Close Encounters

We had a "space" themed weekend this weekend, Roy Todd speaking from Friday to Sunday night. Saturday night was a variety type show with a space theme, got the opportunity to play lots of hi-def video. Fellow techies out there - you can trigger HD video embedded into powerpoint if you're brave. Entire night, backing tracks, video backdrops etc, all running from Powerpoint. Good night had by all! Apologies for the photo quality, only had my phone with me...

Hi Tim
I was just on facebook and have just become a "friend" with John Flavell and saw someone with your name living in Hull, so you know John? He grew up in Crawley and known him for a very long time! (Although 'cos of age difference I know his Mum and knew his Dad better - in fact they've been a real blessing and help to me over the years).

Hi Tim - Yes of course you can see our setup. You can then try some of your typical material. We project to a single 16:9 projector with a native resolution of 1366x768. The project is actually very good at scaling, but we do all scaling in the computer. Media shout gives you control of the scaling and stretching that you would want to do.

The in and out points for DVD and video files is frame perfect, same as with sound files, they are all set in the show scrip. Also video and sound can be made to end with slide or continue over many slides, and loop, there is control of volume etc on a per cue basis too. It is my son who is the expert on MediaShout. Media shout using either PowerPoint Player or full PowerPoint to project PowerPoint shows, but it is all done in media show including being able to see thumbnails and previous of all the slides. So all display media is done by MediaShout.

Perhaps we can arrange details through private messages.

Hi Yorkshire Worship Leaders!

LCGC at Leeds University on Thursday 12th June, tickets only £10! go to www.leedstickets.com

If you are able to bring a group from your church I can arrange group discounts at £8 per ticket for a group over 15 people. Contact me to arrange on 0208 509 7288 or email gemma@choirconnexion.co.uk

This is a fantastic opportunity for Christians to bring along their communities and use the concert as a evangelism tool. It will be great to have support from your Church - we ask that you would help us in promoting the concert within your church and also in the community. The concert is open to everyone although we are really praying that there will be a strong Christian presence at the concert.

HELP US TO REACH OUT TO YOUR COMMUNITY!!

See our website www.lcgc.org.uk for more details on LCGC.

Thanks for your support!

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the reply about the LED Cans, as you are just down the road I might pop down to NewLIfe sometime and see them in action.
What sort of distance will they reach? We have an old church where it has a sort of arched recess to the front. I have been lighting it with two or three 1000w PAR64's from the floor (it must be 5-6m high) with pretty good effect. My plan is to get 8 LED Cans and mount them on the wall 4 on each side. Hopefully they will be powerful enough for 4 to point at the ceiling and 4 and the band from above. I went to worship central and they lit the band with colour from above and it looked great. Are they likely to be effective at 3m range do you think? It was the Thomann ones I was looking at.
Cheers
Richard
