Profile Information

Home Town:
Ormskirk
Home Church:
Ormskirk Parish Church
Musical Gift(s):
Guitar, Singing, Sound Engineering
About Me:
I've been a Christian since 1987; playing guitar since 1991 and leading worship in my current church since 1998.

I'm part of a children's ministry team called The Rock Solid Crew (www.rocksolidcrew.co.uk) which does praise parties around the Liverpool area and I also put on 80s nights to raise money for the kids' work (www.80sSchoolDisco.co.uk).

I'm an IT technician for the government by day and work on the local hospital radio station in my spare time. I also love watching movies, reading (esp. Tolkien, Terry Pratchett, Stephen King), live music & comedy and buying & tasting single malt Scotch whiskies and real ales. I go to the gym regularly and play squash whenever I can.

My all time favourite food is pepperoni pizza.

Despite loving Doctor Pepper I have decided to give up sugary fizzy drinks for a year. Thanks be to God for Pepsi Max.

I once applied for Matt Redman's job when he left St. Andrew's, Chorleywood. I didn't get the job but the letter from Mark Stibbe was very encouraging saying that although I wasn't right for their church, he felt, from what I had written, that there was no doubt that leading worship was my true calling in life. Which was nice.
Favourite Christian Music
Tim Hughes, Nick & Anita Haigh, Paul Baloche, Kathryn Scott, Paul Oakley, Gareth Robinson, Martyn Layzell
Favourite Secular Music
Bryan Adams, Hootie & The Blowfish, INXS, The Sounds, Ultravox, Duran Duran, REM, U2, The Jam, The Style Council.

I love the music of the 80s in general especially New Romantic, New Wave, Post Punk and Synth Pop.
Favourite Bible Verse
John 1:4 - In him was life, and that life was the light of men.

Hi Paul

Not seen you on here for a while - but you're online now. Hope you're doing OK!

Hi Paul

Aliens: I need to improve my diction, the line was meant to be "light from outer space", not "life from outer space".... but you are right, it does sound like the latter on the recording. On the significance of light from outer space, see the last post on the "I wish there was a song about...." thread.

I like your posts - very thoughtful.

PS,
Do you know about Flame FM based at Rock Ferry? Should be on air 24/7 this autumn, God willing.
We played a concert there in March and it was recorded for broadcast

Posters saying "move to Corby" eh?
I can sense a circular argument.

1. Please move to Corby because we're building thousands of new houses
2. We need to build thousands of new houses because all these people want to move here.

GRRRRRR!

Hi Paul,
You can take the boy out of Corby but ....
I played a concert in Corby on my last tour. The church is trying hard but still fragmented. The Catholics have added a Polish service to cater for the influx of eastern Europeans.
The town is growing almost out of recognition and if the government has its way will join up with an expanded Kettering and Wellingborough to form a massive conurbation by 2020. Quite who is going to live in the 50,000+ houses I don't know. Quite who is going to be able to buy one....
Quite how the church is going to meet the planned increase in population?
You tell me

Hi Paul
I hadn't realised you were in Ormskirk....I was only there Wednesday evening seeing a friend of mine (Lives in Peet Avenue - or Drive I can't remember just drive there).
I travel that area quite a lot as I work for a company with a massive factory and office just outside Wigan. (I trave there in 57 different ways sometimes (cryptic clue))
Anyway - just thought I'd say hi.
God Bless
Steve

Fave single malt? Just one? Hummmm. Probably be Aberlour at the mo, but I'm big fan of Laphroaig. Probably narrowly ahead of Talisker. As you can see I have broad tastes (Aberlour and Laphroaig are chalk and cheese). What would your faves be?
